Welcome to Leslie Being Studio
Where art, story, and awakening meet..
About the Book
Some stories don't get written. They arrive. Grizzly's Birthday Miracle is a gentle, luminous children's book about a big, beautiful dog named Grizzly and one morning that changes everything. Perfect for ages 4–8 and beyond, it's a story about love, friendship, and the quiet miracle of simply being seen. Illustrated by award-winning Canadian animation artist Jason Doll, every page is warm, alive, and made to be lingered over. This is a book for children. And for everyone who still remembers how to feel like one.
The Story Behind The story
This book was born on a hiking trail. My friend Chad told me about the moment his dog Grizzly touched noses with a deer in the woods. He described it so vividly I felt it land somewhere deep inside me. I had had my own story about a deer, a spiritual experience that had quietly changed me. Animals have always been a doorway for me, but deer especially, and geese. They show up when something true is happening. When Chad told me that story, the book came to me instantly. Not as work. As a gift. I had always wanted to write a children's book. But I didn't know it would arrive this way; through a friend, a dog, a deer, and years of my own inner journey. Grizzly in this story is me. The nudge, the paw in the air, the miracle — that's all of us, really. Showing up. Being seen. Being loved anyway. That's what I hope children, and their
grown-ups, feel when they read it.
About Leslie Being
Leslie Being is the pen name of Leslie Courtney Adler. Leslie is a fine artist, meditation teacher, and now author.
For years Leslie has worked at the intersection of creativity and inner life, believing that making things, whether paintings, stories, or stillness, is one of the most direct paths to awakening. She teaches meditation and leads groups guided by that same belief: that presence is the most creative act of all. Grizzly's Birthday Miracle is her first children's book, and the most personal thing she has ever made. Leslie is also a visual artist. See her work at lcavisualart.com.
Meditation and Groups
creativity and stillness come from the same place. Leslie teaches meditation and leads small, intimate groups for people who are ready to slow down, go inward, and reconnect with their own inner life. If that calls to you, she'd love to hear from you.
